” Liquid ” Body Armor

by Admin 31. July 2006 14:07

Armor Holdings Inc. (AH ) aims to be selling what he describes as "liquid armor" -- garments constructed from layers of tough fibers and fluid polymers -- to prison guards. By the end of 2007, he hopes, police and maybe soldiers will begin wearing the company's new protective gear as well.

This seems really interesting. If you have ever watched high speed movies of a bullet going through water you have seen that liquid has one of the best stopping capabilities. It makes sense that could be adapted to liquid polymers for armor. Definately seems interesting.

Smoking with young kids in vehicle banned under bill

by Admin 30. July 2006 18:07

Arkansas has passed a bill banning smoking in your own vehicle if you have children (7 and under) with you. Anti-smoking activists are pursuing an "informal, unorganized and quiet movement toward making it a criminal act to smoke around kids" under any circumstances, including in parents' own homes, which would be categorized as child abuse.
